Hello from the Roberts-Lew household (the hubs is Eurasian, while the wife is Chinese)! Hopefully this explains our handle: Roberts Lew 在家 (sounds like “Roberts stay at home” in Chinese). Welcome to our Japandi Luxe 5-rm BTO in Tampines! We collected our keys in Feb 2024, undergone a 5-month renovation (which set us back $210k!), and moved in a month ago. We opted for a light-coloured theme to make our home look bright and airy. To add a touch of luxe, we incorporated design elements such as curves, marble, flute and gold finishes.

We kept to the layout of our 114sqm home, and did not build a new study room as suggested, because we wanted to keep the space in the living room to play games (Nintendo Switch Sports!).

We went with a fluted design for the living room, to add some texture and architectural interest.

Right beside our main door is this arch mirror seatee. We requested for this so that we have a place to sit when we put on our shoes, and can do a last outfit check before we leave home.

On the other side of the seatee is our kitchen. We like the look of an open concept kitchen, but were worried about the cooking smells enveloping the house. This was why we got bifold glass doors which we can leave open by default, and close when we are cooking.

Here’s a closer look at our kitchen. We decided to go with Dekton’s sintered stone backsplash and countertop, which is not only practical but also looks really luxe!

Similar to why we got the bifold glass doors for the kitchen, we also got these bifold glass windows to keep in the cooking smells.

In the master bedroom, we built in full height carpentry to maximise storage. Apart from the carpentry, we also incorporated curves to the false ceiling, which helps make everything look soft and cosy.

This is the wife’s favourite feature in the house! She specifically wanted a door like this, which doubles up as a full-length mirror.

Behind the mirror door, is our master bathroom. We splurged on these gorgeous glazed porcelain tiles from Italy, and it makes us feel like we’re in a hotel bathroom!

We wanted to extend the “hotel experience” to our guests, which is why we chose another set of porcelain tiles for the walls of our guest bathroom. Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for our upcoming posts! :) IG: @robertslewzaijia
