Welcome to our little home! We’re excited to share with you a glimpse into our 4 room BTO in the North-East. We’re @thehomemade.home :) Just to share a little bit about ourselves - Ivan is a chef by profession, while Cam is an educator who loves flowers, crafting and sewing. We’re a lil family of two, with plans for children in the future, and hence want a child-friendly home. Before our renovation started, the brief was ‘boho-scandinavian’, but somehow, ‘scandi’ just wasn’t really the right word for our style. We’re not minimalists, and Cam often jokes that she's a maximalist, really. After our renovation, a few friends who came over said that our house was like a Korean cafe! So, that’s how we’re describing it! Heheh. 
This is our floor plan. We kept it as it is and did not hack any walls except for the service yard. We combined our service yard with our kitchen to create a bigger and longer space. Bedroom 3 is used as Cam's craft room, while Bedroom 2 is our future child's room. We carved out a mini walk-in wardrobe area in our master bedroom. 
As you step inside the front door, you're greeted by our cozy living and dining area. This is our entryway. We kept the DB box as it is, since it matched well with the house. We bought a shoe cabinet from Taobao and have our Samsung vacuum here for easy access.

Here's our dining area and living room at first glance, when you first step into the door. We're also greeted by a beautiful view :) 
Our beautiful curved ceiling, with our KDK airy fan and ball lights from Sol Luminaire! Love the vibes, especially at night. 
It's where we gather, laugh, and make memories over home cooked meals and console games. One consistent detail you’ll notice about this area is the curves! We have a dining arch, a curved ceiling feature and rounded edges in our furniture. These curves create a soft and inviting atmosphere. 
Cam’s favourite feature has to be the floral wallpaper in the dining arch - I love flowers! I also love how warm this area feels, with the amber, yellow, orange, dusty pink and nude shades in the florals. Our beautiful dining table is from Kave home and it's extendable up to 2.6m! We love the look and texture of rattan, so we decided to have a pendant lamp as an accent feature in this area, to add to the rustic-bohemian vibes! 
Next up is the kitchen, the chef’s territory. We have a closed galley-style kitchen to keep the mess contained. We knocked down the walls that demarcate the service yard so that our kitchen becomes bigger. To make the kitchen look more spacious, we opted for open shelves on one wall and top-hung cabinets on the other. 
We have lots of stories and tips to share about our kitchen, so we'll save that for next week's post! I absolutely love the wood laminate that we picked out. The shade is so beautiful with minimal wood grains. 
We have a huge farmhouse sink opposite the stove, as well as a dishwasher. This side of the kitchen is mainly used for food preparation and coffee! :) 
Our original HDB bathroom tiles were white, with grey accent tiles at the shower area. We decided to keep the white wall tiles and overlay 2 walls with large format grey terrazzo tiles to create a calm and neutral bathroom for our guests. We also overlayed the floor tiles as the original tiles by HDB were quite dark. The fittings in this bathroom are gunmetal grey to match the neutral colour scheme. 
We've kept our bedroom simple and serene. For our built-in carpentry, we have a semi walk-in wardrobe with a L-shaped full height wardrobe and a half-height vanity area with 6 drawers. 
To our delight, our bedroom fits a king-sized storage bed with this configuration. The view from our window overlooks the waterway, the sea and the morning sunrise :) We also have a tiny nook in the carpentry that functions as a bedside 'table'. 
Our half height cabinet includes a mini vanity area with a flip-up mirror - more details on that in a future post! 
Last but not least, meet our master bathroom - the brightest room in the house! Peachy-pink terrazzo tiles meets cute japandi-inspired matte white square tiles, put together with peach grouting (to match the kitchen tiles for consistency sake) I love how they go together! For some reason, this bathroom makes me think of a fun, eclectic spa in Bali with its bright colours. More pictures of how the entire bathroom looks in a future post. That’s it for now!
