Hi! We are back! Welcome to the heart of our home 🖤🤎. Let's take a look at how we make our closed and squarish kitchen work :) 
Yes you heard it right! Closed and squarish kitchen. POV when you walked through the alley to enter the kitchen. 
While we loved the layout of the house, we were concerned with the space and size of the kitchen. But with careful space planning, we were able to make it work. And this is now one of our favourite space in the house. 
To maximise space, we went for full height cabinets. And thanks to the squarish layout, we were also able to include an island. Which not only provides extra countertop or workspace, it also provides extra storage! 
We chose drawers for storage. 
We also include power sockets on the island. This has been useful especially to plug in our appliances as we use the counter top a lot for cooking/baking prep works. 
Look who loves to hangout on the island. My beloved Sophie! 
We used this lil corner to house our daily used appliances. 
Next to the stove is our sink and dish rack. After learning from experience, we went for chrome tap and sink for easy maintenance. 
When configurating the kitchen, we told our ID that we want our vacuum and broom hidden. For aesthetic reasons 😅. And also not forgetting a pantry to store our dry foods. And this is how we came up with these 2 tall cabinets. 
Under cabinet LED lights not only provide extra lighting but also act as a mood lighting in the evenings. 
We installed blinds as the sun can be quite harsh in the mornings. 
Unlike BTOs, older resale HDB do not have a designated service yard or laundry area. Hence we have included a nook for our laundry area. After staying here for almost 8 months, we are happy with how the kitchen turned out. No matter how small is the kitchen, but with careful planning, you can make the space functional according to your needs 🥰.
