Hello from our farmhouse kitchen! The kitchen is probably our hardest thought out space because it requires the most built-in carpentry compared to the rest of the house. 3 years in, we think it still works, so I guess we're good ;) The core design components that follows the farmhouse style are the shaker cupboards, the open wooden shelves and brick textured back splash. 
It's a 20 year old unit, and everything in the kitchen has not been changed. It was already a closed concept kitchen (unlike BTO these days), but it further divides between the kitchen and the service yard/ laundry area. While it was practical, we didn't like it as it felt very cramped, so we decided to reconfigurate the kitchen. 
We knocked everything down and re-did the sink placement. Unlike the rest of our carpentry in the bedroom and entryway, we did a white-based kitchen so it brightens up the kitchen space given it's enclosed. We also specially ordered wood-like tiles (not vinyls!) so it looks seamless around the house yet we can splash water and oil and deep clean if necessary :) 
We also opted for a long kitchen hood, unlike most thin hoods hidden in kitchen cupboards, like how a farmhouse kitchen usually is (although I honestly wish they're more triangular, but those models are apparently "older"). Since this is where we cook, we also place our most commonly used bowls and plates here so it's within arm's reach when we cook. 
And finally, other than the usual drawer & shelves within cupboards, having 2 of these condiment shelves are very important and so useful. Usually there's one, but since we have space on either side of the oven, the other one was used to store instant noodles on the top shelf and alcohol at the bottom. Keeps the ramyeon and beer nights within easy reach haha!
