Hi everyone! Welcome to Our Tampines Home (OTH), a 113sqm 5-room BTO. The style of our home is inspired by Modern French/Farmhouse interior design, with neutral tones of cream, whites, and gold accents, balanced with natural elements of wood and stone to provide a warm & cosy feel. A key detail is the incorporation of wainscoting to create interest in an otherwise plain-looking space with all white walls. This is our floorplan! Main changes we did were to knock down an L-shaped wall between the main bedroom and bedroom 2 to create a walk-in wardrobe connected to our master bedroom. We also constructed a full-height wall at the entryway for privacy and to extend out the kitchen space. This is the view that greets us when we step into our home - a half-height storage cabinet to house our robot vacuum and to display decorative items. To the right of the entrance is our concealed household shelter. Look at how it is hidden so seamlessly by the carpentry! The usage of curved edges for our carpentry creates a softer look. The dining area where we host dinner parties for our family and friends! We chose a dining bench so that we can seat more people. Extra chairs are stored away in the cabinet when not in use. This is where we spend most of our time together watching Netflix and playing VR games! Instead of carving out HDB's suggested space for a study, we chose to keep the living space open and airy. The extra space functions temporarily as chill area where we sip a cup of tea while reading. We plan to place our cat furniture/toys here in the future! As our kitchen is quite small due to a lack of a separate service yard, we extended our kitchen counter into the living room as our dry pantry area to cater to our daily lifestyle needs. You can see where the original kitchen area is where there is a demarcation in the flooring. We kick-start our day in this area by prepping toast and a cup of coffee. Shaker style cabinets accentuate the Farmhouse style. We maximised the storage space in our small kitchen by having carpentry on both sides. Our favourite part of the guest bathroom is the egg-shaped basin! The patterned tile was love at first sight and we decided to incorporate it for a pop of colour in our home. The spare room acts as our workspace-cum-home gym. No carpentry done in this room so that we can change up the layout when needed. We installed a full height mirror on one of the walls to check our posture while working out. We used the main bedroom as our walk-in wardrobe so that there is more space for storage. The amount of carpentry may seem excessive but we are already running out of space for our clothes! We specially requested for an exposed hanging rod to hang our "not-dirty-but-not-very-clean" clothes that we can re-wear. Customized pull-out mirror and storage for makeup and skincare products. This is the adjoining wall between the main bedroom and bedroom 2 which we hacked. The design and furnishing in the master bedroom is intentionally kept simple to be a space purely for rest. The wainscoting and wall lights tie in with the Modern French theme. We went with different tiles in the master bathroom for a cosier vibe. Another patterned tile for the feature wall suggested by our ID. Our guests are always surprised that it is not a wallpaper. Thank you for checking out our house tour!
