Wrapping up season 8 with this last and final post on kitchen organisation. This post would be all about how us DINKs are able to maintain a clutter free and minimal fully functional kitchen! 😊 Starting off near the sink, we have a magnetic rack where we place our knives and other frequently used kitchen essentials. We find that it’s easily to access it rather than having it in drawers. Sometimes when your hands are dirty from handling food, it’s a hassle to have to wash hands, dry them before opening your cabinets and drawers. Only works for stainless steel items or items that are magnetic though. Installation is pretty easy, just stick on and wait 24 hours before putting weight on it. Directly below our gas stove, we purchase several pull out drawers and stick them onto the carpentry directly to stow away appliances that we do not frequently use. As the cabinet is pretty deep, having a pull out drawers means we do not need to reach in every time we need to access these appliances. And yes, our rice cooker is in there haha as we only cook 2-3 times a week! Too tired after returning home from work most days or already have plans in the evenings. We fitted a drawer within a drawer to house our cutleries. This would mean our tablewares, bowls, plates, coasters , etc you name it. During the design of the kitchen carpentry, we did not plan for small drawers as it affects the overall outlook of the design. Where do we buy the organisers to compartmentalise every item? We got them from ikea. Before heading to ikea, we measured the internal dimension of the drawer so that we can play around with the organisers from ikea to fit the dimension. As you can see, it’s been very well utilised. Although, the only irk is that the organisers are different? 🥹 If we can redo this again we would definitely want to standardise it. All the tablewares we have are from table matters. We got them off a really good deal when they hosted a promotion where you try to fit as much tableware as you can in a tote bag and pay about $80+ for it For dry goods, maggi, canned food and other cooking condiments we also bought organisers to stow them away. For homeowners that would like to know where to buy organisers, we find that these places have a good variety of organisers: 1) IKEA 2) Nitori 3) Daiso Japan 4) Shopee We even repurpose wardrobe organisers to keep our baking items and other miscellaneous stuff as we felt it was a waste to throw away good organisers. We used to use them for our clothes previously but when we moved to our current place, we dedicated an entire room to a walk in wardrobe and bought more organisers for those. Under the sink we bought an adjustable pot rack organiser to fit our pots and pans. We really love the modori cookware set as it comes in such nice colors, stackable and easy to store. It is non-stick as well. The handles can be removed so that there is minimal steric hindrance when it comes to storage. We have been using it for about 1 year. Highly recommend! That’s it for season 8 people! We hope you guys will find this post helpful in organising your place. More often than a nice renovation, organisation is very important too.
