Welcome to our bedroom, a relaxing space full of dark wood tones!
We specifically designed this space to have a different wood tone to the common spaces (like the kitchen), to change the vibe of the space and segregate it from the rest of the house. It is also more minimalist and clean of any decor or clutter.
Our bedroom has a little walkway into the room, where the master bathroom is located on the right. Here we have installed our full body mirror, a secondhand that we got from someone who was giving it away for free! It matched the bathroom doors and cupboard laminates perfectly. Our rattan laundry basket also fits perfectly into the space next to our cupboards. We love the warm tones from the entryway!
We actually were hoping to get a wooden bedframe for our bed, but as our matress came with a free one, we decided to use this for the time being. It does add a nice contrast in the materials, as there is already a lot of wood.
We decided to add little wall sconces from Shiok Lightings. We liked how it could act as our reading lights without being so harsh. The material of the sconces are stone-like which matches in nicely with our bedframe too!
For our bedside tables, we decided to just use simple IKEA ones for now and will think about changing them up later in the future. For now, they are functional for putting our books and charging our phones, and on wheels, which makes cleaning a bit easier.
We also chose to use blinds for our bedroom windows. Thankfully both of us are not affected by light shining in when sleeping, so having blackout curtains wasn't something we needed to consider. The blinds are helpful in letting lots of wind come in and gives us the privacy we need at the same time.
You might also notice that our bedroom has a bay window, which is actually structural. We are hoping to eventually buy some cushions and create a seating area for lounging, or possibly adding some plants too!
Last but not least, our absolute favourite part of the bedroom, our wardrobe cupboards designed by our ID, Renny! We loved how she also added in the curves at the sides. Not only does it aesthetically look nice and make the boxy room feel softer, but it is functionally safer when we walk past our bed because we never have to worry about hitting a sharp corner. She added easy to hold door handles that look sleek and clean.
