Step into our hotel-inspired master bath — dark, cosy, luxurious and made for the end-of-day relaxation, while still keeping things practical and functional with a focus on aesthetics 😶🌫️
This corner is where all the little details come together — a mix of lines, curves, and textures that make the space feel calm yet full of character.
The stone-like sink has become a favourite spot for our daily routines, sitting beautifully on a fluted cabinet that stores the bathroom supplies. Above it, the curved mirror brings a soft, vintage charm that makes even brushing of teeth feel a little special. The fluted glass door adds texture while letting in just enough light, and even the aircon trunking was thoughtfully concealed with curves, so nothing interrupts the flow.
It’s these small touches that make the space not just functional, but a joy to use every day.
From the start, we knew we wanted a clear wet and dry separation, and played with a few ideas — from a full-height wall with niches to a sleek full-glass panel. In the end, we settled on a half-and-half design, which keeps most of the splashes contained within the wet zone while still letting the space feel open and airy. The half-height wall has a niche — just the right height for us to place our shampoos while keeping those not-so-pretty bottles tucked away from sight.
Our ID also suggested skipping the usual mesh or acrylic ceiling panels, and instead going for a false ceiling. This not only hides the practical bits but also adds to the cosy vibe, with a mix of LED strip lighting and a simple downlight that keeps the space well-lit yet like a dark little retreat.
Opposite the shower, we added a sleek gunmetal towel rack we found on Taobao. It’s been the perfect spot for hanging our towels and clothes, and to our surprise, it doesn’t catch any of the rain shower splashes — definitely a little win 🤪
For the half-height wall, we decided on one big niche — planned with the height of our everyday bottles in mind, and with enough clearance for us to comfortably reach in for a pump. And yes, this is where all the not-so-pretty bottles live, neatly tucked away yet within easy reach 🧴
Our two non-negotiables for the master bath were clear from the start: 1) wet & dry separation, and 2) a sloped shower drop.
And here it is — our beautifully executed shower drop, made possible by overlaying the entire master bath with the same 600mm tiles from Hafary, creating a seamless, continuous look.
Our obsession started last October, when we stepped onto a sloped shower drop at a hotel and immediately snapped a photo for reference — we knew we had to recreate that feeling at home.
And here’s why we’ll never go back: 1) underfoot, it feels perfectly seamless, so you don’t even notice stepping down; 2) no gunk or algae can hide in corners; 3) the drop keeps water neatly contained in the wet zone; and best of all, 4) our pinky toes are completely safe from accidental stubs if we ever forget about it 😮💨😮💨😮💨
It’s a little detail that makes a huge difference in everyday comfort.
Where business happens 🚽🧻💩 — featuring a toilet roll holder with a handy spot for our phones, a toilet with a tornado flush, and a bidet spray that comes in helpful for thorough cleaning sessions
That’s a wrap on our master bath tour! We’ve shared how we tried to make this space cosy, comfortable, and a little sanctuary for our daily routines — showering everyday with calm, enjoyable moments.
