  • Our 5 reno NON-regrets that you should consider too!
Our first Reno Non-Regret is the vanity in our master bedroom! Initially our ID thought of doing just shelves to display items but we decided we wanted to use the space for vanity instead. We basically designed this with the help of our ID! To ensure we don't lose out on storage, it has been optimised by having the table being able to flip up and store many items, additional storage behind the mirror as well as the chair being able to store many things! Don't tell the robber my bags are there!

Another non-regret, is our settee in our masterbedroom! Essentially, yes, we gave up additional wardrobe space to have a settee! But depending on how you look at it, we definitely benefited and optimised our storage better from this. It was between having vertical storage or horizontal storage that is on the ground. Having the settee allows us to fully optimise the area vs potentially not using the top of the wardrobe (because its too high). We keep our other bags, bedsheets and towels all here and super accessible to not so tall me! Not gonna lie, we are not big on reading so we have not fulfilled that zen and chill dream to read on it but we do chill on it to scroll on Tiktok!

We decided to spend some money to extend our piping to the opposite of our washing machine to have a sink with carpentry. Just did some rough maths and it was about an additional $1.5k for this! We use it very often almost everyday. Can be used to wash laundry, dirty cloths and sometimes used to help with the dirty dishes when the kitchen sink is full and already in use! For this we looked specifically for a lab sink which is deeper (similar to kitchen sink not toilet sink depth) so that we can wash without worrying the water will splash out. We also have a lot of our cleaning supplies kept here which I prefer more than having them under the kitchen sink.

I probably haven't shared about this enough but our wardrobe has an open cut out for clean-but-not-so-clean clothes! We use it way too often which gives away too much about our lifestyle. (Don't judge!) On top of that, we now do not have THE chair. (You're smiling because you know what I'm referring to!)

Major non-regret is increasing the height of our countertops in the kitchen! I think the industry average is 86cm. But even at 159cm, I had to bend over to wash the dishes and it was not pleasant for the back. Can't imagine it for the husband who is 175cm! We raised our countertops to 93cm! People say its likely too high for me but I'm not complaining while washing the dishes anymore! Do share which of our reno non-regret is your favourite and let us know if you will adopt any of them!
