    Welcome to our master bathroom! To be honest, we didn’t have a specific theme in mind for this space and just wanted to incorporate a variety of textures and colours we like: wood, travertine, curves + blue subway tiles + warm accents So happy with how this combination turned out in the end! I think what makes this bathroom so visually interesting is the contrast of the organic/natural elements with the clean colours and bright accents.

    One of the key features of the master bathroom is the onsen-like shower space, which was highly requested by the mr (who loves japan & japanese design elements)

    One of the first things our guests ask us is how we maintain the wood in the shower.. this just goes to show how natural our wood-like tiles look and we love that (‘: But the textures and pattern not only make the tiles *look* like real wood but also makes it *feel* real and natural. Most importantly, the textured surface adds friction and makes the tiles less slippery and suitable for use in the shower space. Here’s a close up of the textures and pattern^

    To tie in with the natural onsen feel of the shower, we found this towel hanger which is made out of a real wood log. We love how a simple accessory like a towel hanger can also add to the organic feel of the shower space.

    Two no-regrets for the shower area: 1) Half wall - less glass to maintain/clean, and also adds a cosy feel to the shower space 2) Niche - A sleek way to hide the shower bottles but also makes it easy to reach and access

    This is our view when showering hehe.. no regrets adding a curved to the corner of the glass, which matches the arch mirror at the vanity area and breaks up the blockish look of the rectangular shower space. On our main feature wall: both of our favourite colours is blue 🩵 so we knew we had to feature a blue tile accent wall in one of our toilets~ Love the shade of blue we went with in the end, bcos it’s a palatable and subtle shade of blue that we don’t foresee outgrowing or getting bored of, and the subway tile-pattern adds visual interest too.

    This set of floating shelves were only added in later on, because we felt that the blue tile wall was a little plain after awhile…. It also allowed us to display little art piece and accessories to complement the accent colours in the bathroom. Love how the teak wood breaks up the monotony of the blue wall, but also complements the onsen shower wood without overdoing the “wood” element (since the shelves are in a darker tone of wood)

    Another accent of the toilet is our Castlery mirror. I love travertine for the naturally imperfect look it has, which in this case, nicely contrasts the clean look of the blue tiles. So glad we could also feature a pop of colour via the crimson travertine!

    Thinking of choosing wire glass for your slide & swing door? We’re absolutely in love with how classy it looks and can’t recommend it more! The soft light it lets in (and out) is so 😍 and the pattern of the glass is something less commonly seen in homes nowadays which makes it extra visually appealing. However, you might not want to choose wire glass (same for frosted glass and other translucent materials) for the bathroom door IF you want the adjacent master bedroom to remain blacked-out in the early morning (or risk being woken up by the light from the toilet window), OR if you’re super concerned about privacy (see the silhouette from the outside POV). That’s why we only did wire glass for the master bathroom and not common bathroom – to protect our guests’ privacy (;
