Hello! Welcome to OurCosyVale! We self-designed our 5-room BTO with the intention to create a warm and cosy space to call home.
Prior to key collection, we spoke to and shortlisted various IDs. However, we ultimately chose to go with direct contractors as we wanted to be more hands on, and most importantly, for the cost savings!
Unfortunately, we are generally not aesthetically inclined individuals, hence had to seek out various social media platforms such as Instagram, Pinterest, 小红书 etc for inspirations.
Ultimately, we decided on the overall theme of our home to be something along the lines of 奶油风, essentially cream Scandinavian. Warm cream tones have been used consistently with light wood colours to create a gentle and airy space with Japandi vibes. We also incorporated curves in our carpentry to add softness and at the same time, still feel of modern and timeless.
Every single design and item in our home has been carefully selected which made our journey pretty tiring, yet so fulfilling!
Here’s our floor plan with 113sqm of total space. We did not make major changes except to hack the wall between the kitchen and dining which will be seen in later photos.
At our entrance, we built in full carpentry with reduced open shelvings to make future maintenance easier.
A curve arch is created to set a warm and welcoming tone when we enter the house.
Space has also been created to store our robot vacuum from Dreame which we absolutely adore!
Our dining area (AFTER)
We went with a semi-open kitchen concept as we expected ourselves to do frequent cooking, yet still wanted a bright and open space.
Hence, we hacked half of the wall between our dining and kitchen and installed bi-fold windows and a door.
Welcome to our kitchen! This is the space where we spent most of our time and effort designing as we we wanted to ensure that the built-in carpentry will be custom made for our requirements.
Our Master Bathroom
For the Master bathroom, we custom made our cabinet with drawers so that it would be easier to access everyday essentials. One of the best decisions made!
Finally, thank you for reading our first post. We will continue to share more details of our home in the coming weeks. Do follow @ourcosyvale on Instagram where we share more on our home and reno journey!
