We designed this warm and cosy corner at our balcony, to make full use of the little space we had. As our balcony is curved and wavy in shape, we decided to arrange our plants and furniture in a L-shape to give ourselves as much space as possible to move around. The flooring of the balcony was re-tiled, so as to avoid the hassle of cleaning beneath any wooden decking, and to prevent accumulation of foul odour. The rustic wood tiles add to the cosiness of the area. This is a zoomed in view of the balcony wall and deco. The little tent and foldable outdoor chairs add a camping vibe to the space. The tentage is especially helpful for plants that cannot take the bright direct sunlight. As the balcony is relatively small, we made use of the wall to decorate the space. This cute little fern mounted on a wooden board makes the space look more lively and interesting. As the sunlight at the balcony is quite strong, we selected plants that can thrive in bright direct sunlight, one of which is a Japanese pine. To illuminate the plants and showcase them, we installed wall lamps and inserted solar powered lights into the soil. The light not only illuminates the plants, but also instantly brightens up the entire space.
