This is one of the main highlight of our house - a huge 8.5x5ft island π
It costs us 8k+ for the sintered stone and carpentry, but no regrets as we really spend majority of our time chilling here!
Our island height is 90cm and we bought 60cm stools (addn costs will be incurred for cutting the legs). Anything from 60-65cm is fine, but we went for 60cm as a safer option to allow us to cross our legs on the stool comfortably π
We wanted cream color initially but it was OOS and we really loved how comfortable this model is, so we just went with the grey+walnut instead. No regrets as the grey still blends well, making our house less monotonous, and we still have some dark wood in our house anyway (TV bezel, main door, room doors).
The back rest is so comfortable you donβt even feel like you are sitting on a high stool! Feels like any normal dining chair.
We bought 6 but later realized putting 3 on each side is a little tight/troublesome since its usually just 2 of us. So the extra 2 have become spares lying in the living room for now π
There is storage space below our island which we use to store our larger kitchen appliances that we donβt use often e.g. airfryer, baking mixer, etc.
We also did dual sockets on both inner ends of the island for charging our devices, and for future steamboat sessions. We switched from power track to normal sockets in the end to save costs.
For now, our rice cooker is also stored here and I will use one of the socket here to cook rice on the island so it doesnβt take up our kitchen tabletop space.
On the inner end of the island, we have our Amglow water dispenser with the filter system underneath. Water dispenser is really a game-changer, we find ourselves drinking so much more water now!
We also have a smaller secondary sink here to wash our hands or do some light washing, with a Rigel sensor tap. This area also acts like a prep space for cooking!
Hidden at the inner corner is a Kadeka wine chiller π
Since this area of the island is quite un-useable due to the wall blocking, we decided to place our wine glasses here as it will be relatively safe. We also place our bread and spreads at this corner.
Love how it is nicely tucked underneath the island!
