People always say to design your home based on your routines around the house. We say: don’t forget to plan your furniture based on that, too.
Watching shows while eating is one of our couple activities. So when we found out about the existence of coffee tables with an extendable top, we’ve never looked back.
It’s not very common in the market, so this was one of the harder pieces of furniture to find – much less a design that actually suits our home aesthetic.
Ours is from Taobao and we are absolutely in love with every aspect of it – from the shade of wood to its reeded edges and functionality. It even comes with soft closing and storage, so we’ve made it a home for our tissue paper 🥹
Needless to say, we spend more time eating here than our dining area.
But the thing about buying furniture from Taobao is that there’s always that risk of it looking different in real life.
Take our TV console, for example. We actually bought another TV console from Taobao before this one, but the shade of wood was too warm and wasn’t what we wanted. So we ended up giving it away to my grandmother and got our current one from Taobao too.
What surprised us was that even with the costs of both TV consoles added up, it was still cheaper than buying one locally.
When we were hunting for a sofa, having one with a proper headrest was an important factor because we wanted sufficient support for our heads even when we are being worms.
This one from Cellini ticked all the right boxes and both ends can even be reclined for the ultimate movie experience at home.
The best part? We could pick the fabric that we wanted, so we went with the aqua clean fabric for easy maintenance since our sofa’s in a lighter colour.
Draw the blinds in our living room and it immediately sends us into lounging mode. But if I’m being honest, we’ve had it down less than 10 times since we’ve moved in đź¤
