When we first walked into this unit, it was charming and that drew us in almost immediately. They say that while house hunting, when you walk into “the” unit, you’d know – and it’s true. There’s something about the possibilities waiting to be worked on that made us put down the offer.
Here’s why we chose it, and what we’re planning to change up.
We love that EMs offer a clear distinction between life and life between us. The upper level will be entirely devoted to our private life (rest, work, creative space). The lower level is for connection and hosting.
We’re shifting the L1 study into a communal dining space, one where our family and friends can gather and have a designated area to mingle and have meaningful conversations. The original dining space will be converted into an entry way for our shoe cabinet.
We’re also opening up the kitchen, putting a peninsula right before the living room and merging the balcony with the service balcony. As you can see, the initial layout is rather enclosed with the bomb shelter right in the middle. Thankfully, we’re able to work around it and open up the other areas.
The rooms in upper level will be dedicated to rest, a walk in wardrobe/vanity, and an office.
It’s the first week of renovation and hacking works are almost done. I can’t wait to see this place stripped to the bones and start building its new life.
