Why Our PM Deserves All the Credit for Our Sanity
2513
You know how most renovation nightmares begin after the actual work starts. We heard of many renovation horror stories: IDs going MIA after renovation begins, contractors cutting corners, major renovation delays etc. When our PM told us that she'd be on leave for a week during our renovation we braced ourselves for any delays. However, it felt as if she was never gone. She arranged for her colleague to takeover, but more importantly, whenever we dropped questions in the group chat, she'd be the first to respond - even from a different timezone. We decided to outsource our aircon replacement to a friend's contact. They completely ignored our installation instructions, we even provided them with a detailed drawing that our PM did but they literally just threw it on the floor... When their work threatened our toilet carpentry and nearly derailed 2c’s favourite cat tile installation, our PM stepped in. She had zero obligations to deal with our third-party vendor (who was frankly quite rude and disrespectful to her), but she took charge anyway - proposing solutions and managing the mess created 😭 Whenever issues came up, our PM would rush over to assess things personally, even when we'd already sent photos and videos. After a touch-up session, 2c mentioned of paint stains in our kitchen sink. Within 30 minutes, we walked into our kitchen to find our PM bent over the sink, scrubbing away every last stain herself. While we had our fair share of hiccups and delays in our entire renovation journey, having a PM who genuinely cared made all the difference between a renovation nightmare and a manageable process. Sometimes it's not about having a perfect renovation - it's about having the right people in your corner when things go sideways.
