Here with our last post for this season! Have always been sharing about our home in the day, but wanted to also feature it when its night time too. Feel like the lighting in our home gives it a completely different vibe during the day versus at night. We don’t get a lot of sunlight in our home save for the morning sun so I feel the home is a lot cool-toned in the day, while warm and cosy in the night.
We opted for 3000k lights from Sol Luminaire for our home! Our LED strips are also of 3000k temperature 🙂
To be honest, Sol Luminaire is not cheap and we did consider whether or not its truly worth it given that so many people easily buy lights off Taobao these days. However we decided to go with it due to:
1. Warranty, which Taobao lightings do not have
2. Colour temperature. We could see the lighting colour in real life before purchasing, so we could ensure the lighting is consistent throughout the home
Most of the wall lamps were purchased separately from Taobao mainly to add some decorative elements to the space.
Thankfully the colour temperature was still quite similar to the 3000k lights we chose for the house.
When we visited Sol’s showroom, the sales rep also prepared a lighting plan for us. However we found that there were too many lighting points proposed, and not all were necessary. Tip for new home owners would be to consider whether the lighting points proposed would meet your needs.
We took the lighting plan home and discussed on what we felt was necessary. This allowed us to cut down on the number of lights in the house, saving costs too. (We cut down the cost by about 1k from the initial quotation!!) Most of the time when we asked if our alternative lighting plan works, the sales rep still said it would be bright enough. So definitely do take some time to think about what is required in your home.
For example, they initially proposed track lights in our kitchen. However, we felt that it was not necessary given that the kitchen is a small space. Further we didn’t really like the look of the track lights. We ended up just choosing 2x basic round lights which cost us $30 each - given the kitchen lights served a more functional purpose.
We may have went with the pricier option for the lighting in our home, but overall no regrets with our choices ☺️
