Electrical planning is honestly one of the most underrated parts of a reno. Get it wrong and you're hacking walls open after everything is done. So we drew everything out in detail before a single wire was touched.
Slide 1 is the electrical plan split by zone — wall and ceiling light positions for the living/common areas, and a separate section for carpentry zones. Light types are all called out in the legend (LED strips, track lights, spotlights, ceiling fans, wall lights).
Slide 2 is the power socket plan — and this one took the longest to figure out. Every socket is marked with its height from floor and distance from wall or door, and the ones that need concealed wiring are flagged separately. The kitchen island alone has its own dedicated socket run.
Slide 3 is the lighting and switch pairing map — colour-coded by circuit so the electrician knows exactly which switches control which lights in each room. No ambiguity, no "aiya just wire it however lah."
Moral of the story: your electrician is not a mind reader. The more you spec out upfront, the less you pay for rectification later 😅
