Welcome to our home! 🙂 It has been nearly 4 years since we first moved in and we still love the space that we’ve built for ourselves ❤️
We will be sharing more home content such as renovation tips, the dos and don’ts for first-time homeowners, best budget-friendly home buys, as well as what worked (and what didn’t work) for us so that you don’t have to go through what we did.
Do follow us if you’re embarking on this homeowner journey 👋🏻
Before we got the keys to our house, I was certain I wanted a window bay and had gotten our ID to include that in the 3D rendering. Hubs was ok with the idea cause happy wife happy life 😂 I would imagine us lazing there on the settee with a book or our phones, glancing out at the sky and watching the world go by every now and then.
Fast forward to today, we find that it is one of the best investments we’ve made in our home for the following reasons:
❤️ Ideal for lounging, it is a perfect spot for reading, napping or simply just relaxing.
❤️ Offers additional seating when we host guests
❤️ Easy to clean and maintain, just need to wipe down and all’s good.
❤️ Serves as a compartment for storage (we keep additional pillows, seasonal items like christmas decor, other living room essentials and children’s toys inside).
❤️ Throw a few cushions there and it creates a warm welcoming environment, bringing a sense of intimacy to the space!
We also wanted an open kitchen, so that the entire space could look bright and spacious.
We were pretty sure that we’re going to do light cooking most of the time (no deep frying). In addition, with cooking appliances like air fryers, ovens and slow cookers nowadays, there are so many dishes you can create without making your kitchen oily and greasy!
With that being said, we also did our research and invested in a good kitchen hood to remove smoke, steam, and other pollutants generated during cooking, reducing kitchen odour 😊
Here is our dining area!
We found the wall behind too empty, so we took the chance to frame up some of our wedding and family photos 🥰
I highly recommend doing this!!! Seeing photos of your loved ones around the home reinforces a sense of belonging and connectedness 🥰 They personalize your space and make your home so much warmer & cosier.
When we first moved out of our parents’ place, i couldn’t adapt very well and kept missing my family. I think the photos helped. Seeing photos of your families or loved ones there is actually quite emotionally comforting ❤️
Aaaaaand this is our master bedroom!
Our private sanctuary - the place where we wind down, recharge and restore our energy after a long day 🤍The space here is important for deep rest, intimacy, and emotional connection.
Some fengshui & practical tips that may be of use:
🌱 Use soft, soothing colors like creams, blues, or muted earth tones — they promote calmness.
🌱 Position your bed properly: Ideally, your bed should have a solid wall behind it and a clear view of the door without being directly in line with it.
🌱 Good airflow and lighting are essential; natural light in the day, warm soft lighting at night.
🌱 Keep the space calm and uncluttered. Too many items (especially electronics) can overstimulate your mind and disrupt sleep.
In case you’re wondering (like many of our friends), yes, this is a King bed! It is definitely possible to fit a L-shape wardrobe, king-sized bed and a vanity table (not in the image) in the master bedroom of a BTO flat 😊 We love our bed and have no regrets purchasing it!!
