Hello, we are finally back! π We recently bought a few appliances from Audio House and wanted to share what the visit was really like. We waited for the Audio House Day Sale in July because several salesmen mentioned that the eCashback would be higher π° and we noticed many other shoppers were also holding out for the promotion.
As always, this post is based on our experience and may differ from yours. We also have no context on after-service or the products yet, so fingers crossed π€ everything turns out well. We have compiled our best tips and strategies to help you maximise savings at Audio House (swipe the photos πΈ), and we will also share our full shopping experience in detail below so you get a complete picture of what to expect. Save this post as you wonβt find these tips anywhere else!
Audio House is located in the Ubi area near the MRT. Our first impression was that the store is not very large and feels a bit unorganised at first glance, with many salespersons around different sections. We tried browsing on our own at first but quickly realised we could not really find the items without a salesperson noticing us and starting a conversation HAHA π It was also hard to understand the deals without some guidance.
Each brand or product category seemed to have its own salesperson. For example, if you are looking for a washer and an aircon, the washer salesperson will guide you first, then hand you over to the aircon salesperson. After checking and writing down the prices, a salesperson will group the items on paper and calculate the discounts/eCashback that you are entitled to.
At first, we did not really understand the cashback program because we were passed from one salesperson to another. Thankfully, one patient salesperson took the time to explain everything clearly π Others were more brief, so it really helps to talk to a few different salespeople to get the full picture. From what we observed, Audio House works best if you are buying multiple items to earn more cashback and make your overall purchase more worthwhile. If you only need one item, it might be worth comparing prices elsewhere.
Not every product is on display. A few items we asked about were not shown but were actually available, so it is worth checking with the salesperson even if you do not see the item. Payment is done on Level 3 and the queue can get very long. Our salesperson printed the first invoice and asked us to pay before issuing the second invoice (to apply the cashback), so you may end up queuing again. If you are short on time, it helps if one person queues first. This was the situation for us on a weekend visit.
β οΈ Always check your invoices before paying! We almost paid with another customerβs invoice because we were rushing and trusted the salesperson who handled us the printout. After this experience, we are now extra careful whenever it comes to our invoices.
We noticed that warranty terms are not printed on the invoice, so we checked with the staff and documented the details ourselves. This small step reminded us how important it is to ask for and keep a personal record. Keeping screenshots of all invoices, along with the warranty period and contact number, is a simple habit that can save a lot of trouble later.
Membership is free and can be created on the spot when you make a purchase. Nobody asked, but if you want to create an Audio House account and need a referral link, let us know! That way, we both get $5 eCashback π yay.
We recommend strategizing your purchases so that most, if not all, of the eCashback you earned from your first receipt can be utilized in your second receipt on the same day you purchase your appliances at Audio House π‘. In our case, we earned $900 eCashback from the first receipt and were able to use $860 (~96%) on our second receipt. This strategy helped us achieve a high effective discount on our overall purchase. That said, if you are not in a hurry to buy all your appliances in one day, it is perfectly fine not to fully use your eCashback immediately. Just keep in mind that you can use $20 of eCashback for every $100 spent on future purchases, and the eCashback lasts for 10 years.
Other helpful tips β¨
β’ Aircon prices are cheaper than Gain City, but installation is handled by a third-party installer. We decided to spend a bit more after reading mixed online reviews and will share our installation experience in another post.
β’ For those in the miles game, you must use kris+ app to pay and link to your UOB krisflyer card for more miles accumulation. We realised it might be better to consolidate under one person, since we are booking the flight together anyway.
β’ Some Japanese brands do not participate in the cashback program, so always check if your preferred model qualifies.
β’ Ask how long they can hold your items before delivery.
β’ If the calculations on paper start to feel confusing, use an Excel sheet to track and work out the best combination to maximise cashback.
β’ Waiting for higher cashback events can help you achieve greater savings.
The savings at Audio House are pretty good, but getting the most out of them requires a bit of understanding and planning. We hope our experience helps you shop with more clarity if you are planning a visit. We will be doing another post on Gain City, so follow us if you want to read more content like this! π€
