When planning our bathroom renovation, we wanted a space that felt calm, refined, and effortlessly functional. One design feature that truly elevated the look and usability of our bathroom was the inclusion of niche walls—a small detail that makes a surprisingly big difference.
Traditional bathroom storage often relies on shelves or hanging racks, which can easily make the space feel busy. By opting for built-in niche walls, we were able to keep all our daily essentials—shampoo, body wash, skincare—neatly tucked away without disrupting the clean lines of the bathroom.
Because the niches are recessed into the wall, they don’t protrude into the space. This keeps the bathroom looking streamlined and spacious, which is especially important in apartments where every centimetre counts.
Each niche was carefully sized and positioned based on how we actually use the bathroom. In the shower area, the niche sits at a comfortable height for easy access, eliminating the need to bend down or reach awkwardly. Outside the shower, a separate niche provides storage for decorative items and extra toiletries, blending function with aesthetics.
To enhance the modern luxury feel, we finished the niche interiors with the same tiles used throughout the bathroom, creating a seamless and cohesive look. Subtle contrast in tile texture adds depth without overpowering the space.
We also installed soft, warm lighting within the niche, which not only highlights the design feature but also creates a relaxing ambience—perfect for unwinding after a long day.
