Welcome to our updated kitchen tour!
We are happy to back as Season 10 Ambassador! (: For this season we will be showing different parts of our house (what have changed and what we loved since we moving in 6 months ago) and interesting little quests in between (stay tuned!)
Starting off with a wide angle of our kitchen. We really love how our marbled pattern sintered stone is contrasting with the black laminates.
We love playing with different lightings. Majority of our lights are warm tone, the only cooler light is the pendant light above our kitchen island.
We chose a brighter setting for our pendant light as the kitchen acts as a work/study space for us as well. We also opted for a fluted glass panel door to segregate our kitchen and service balcony space. We love how the fluted glass looks especially the dark frame that matches with our theme.
Welcome to the pantry area where we have made the most changes in our kitchen!
The water dispenser is still the same, we chose happie joy water dispenser after doing many research and we love it so much we made a reel about it 😬 Check out our insta page mentionat_west if you want to find out more about the dispenser.
Both of us are avid coffee drinkers and we can't leave the house without caffeine in the morning. After tons of research and watching reviews videos, we decided on breville bambino plus espresso machine and DF64 grinder.
We felt that this is the beginner set up suitable for us as we no nothing about coffee making prior to getting one.
This has been such a game changer in our kitchen and we have been enjoying our daily morning coffee making ritual (:
We are toying with the idea of adding a wooden board on top to reduce clutter on our counter top. If you look closer we have set up a small matcha corner as well (:
Another feature we love in our pantry is the power track from Nexen.
We have no regrets paying more for a power track especially in the pantry area as we love that it gives us the flexibility to add more appliances in the future without worrying about the lack of power points. Moreover, we love how sleek it looks!
We also have 2 corner fans in our kitchen, we got it from fanco and we have no issues with it so far and it has kept us breezy on hotter days
Moving to the cooking area, not much has changed since our last kitchen post.
Some thoughts on using a gas stove after 6 months of staying here:
Pros
1. Able to control heat better (Personal experience)
2. Faster heating and cooling
3. Can handle different sizes of pan and work
Cons
1. Harder to clean (Not flat surface and not all the attachments are detachable)
2. Unable to install aircon
3. Safer for families with children and pets
These are our two cents worth! Overall if we were to choose again we will still go with gas stove as it suits our lifestyle more (heavy cookers).
For lighting, our id suggested adding led light below the cabinet and this has brighten our kitchen space so much yet still having the warm and cosy atmosphere! This is usually the only light that is on during dinners.
Chose sintered stone for our kitchen backdrop and we have been loving it.
We were initially worried about choosing a white coloured sintered stone as we were concerned about obvious staining but sintered stone is known for being heat and stain resistant and it has been proven true after months of staying here. No stains at all even after accidentally spilling coffee/wine on it.
If you look closely at the backdrop does it look like smoke coming out from the stove? (:
Made some minor changes in the sink area, we added suction hook for hanging items and these have helped to minimise clutter a lot. We have tried a few brands and this is the best we have tried so far in terms of durability and strength.
Lots of diatomite items here, love how quick drying it is and helps clean the kitchen dry and clean!
Found this 4 way tap in one of the shopping malls and decided to purchase it immediately, it has 4 different type of water mode for different function and we opted for gun metal look. Beside the tap we also decided to get a cup washer. It is fun and easy to use, good for washing coffee cups and water bottles that are difficult to rinse
A wide angle of where the magic happens!
We opted for a dishwasher after many considerations and no regrets! We saved a lot of time from washing dishes especially on days when we are hosting big families and friends (:
Last but not least! Featuring the most expensive door in the house - the glass sliding door. We have talked all about it in the our previous kitchen tour post and till this day we still think it is worth the purchase.
We have a pet dog and cat and this has served its purpose in keeping the kiddos away during cooking. It allows the kitchen to be segregated yet still giving it a open kitchen look.
And that's all for our first post for Season 10, stay tuned for the future posts as we talked all about what has changed after 6 months of living here (:
Happy reading!
