We've personally experienced and also heard many complains about damp and mouldy bathrooms in Singapore. So it was a no-brainer for us to plan for a ventilation fan to be installed in our common bathroom during renovation.
It's ugly but it really helps our bathroom stay dry and smelling fresh.
Our master bathroom's window design is different and we thought it would really be an eye sore to have a fan there. Furthermore, we assumed that this bathroom would be able to dry quicker with a bigger window.
Reno regret incoming...
Ugly but really practical. Will install again in our next home.
We heard of some homeowners who installed normal ceiling fans but most of them break down quickly due to moisture.
After 2 years, we decided to get the contractor who installed the first one for us back!
He said, "I told you! You should have installed both in the first place!"
The bigger window was not enough to dry our bathroom (which we use daily for our showers, more than the common bathroom). It was a chore to bring in our large dehumidifier in after each shower too, since we don't have a powerpoint in the bathroom.
So yes, we're happy with our new ventilation fan and will make sure to install one in our next home!
