“wah, your living room is so big!”
This is usually the first thing our friends say when they step into our house 😅
One of the “bold moves” that we did for our renovation was to knock down the common bedroom adjacent to the living area. This made our living space a lot larger and allows us to host family and friends when they come over. The removal of the wall not only expanded the physical dimensions of the room but also brought in more natural light, giving the entire space a brighter and airier feel!!
To conceal the unsightly DB box, we went with our ID’s solution - which was to custom-built a cupboard, serving a dual purpose of added storage space. This cupboard now houses our shoes and general household items.
Mostly made up of modular furnitures so we can shift things around ✨
We took another bold step of knocking down the common bedroom adjacent to the master bedroom to make the master bedroom bigger!! 🛌
Instead of the standard layout, we reversed the roles of the two rooms, placing the bed in the supposed common bedroom. This allowed us to do a built-in wardrobe that stretches across the entire expanse of the supposed master bedroom as we really wanted to prioritise wardrobe space to store our clothes and personal items.
So yes, we essentially transformed a HDB 4 Room into one that has just 1 bedroom 🙃
opted for kompacplus instead of quartz for our counter top and backsplash. it was a decision we made midway through our renovation. we’re glad that we made that change becos we’ve heard that it’s easy for quartz to stain. imagine if we went with white quartz for our counter top and backsplash 🫤 it would have a been a nightmare to maintain!!
one thing we love about our kitchen is the extended bar counter!! it allows us to have a quick meal on one side, while the other side has cabinets for storage space. this extended table also acts as additional space for meal prep so it’s a win-win-win 💯
Our master bathroom 🚽
Right from the start, 👱🏼♂️wanted to have a bathtub in our master bathroom cos he prefers to sit while bathing (maybe it's a Japanese thing idk 🤷🏻♀️).
Anyway, our friend recommend HERA, as they have a series of bathtubs suitable for those who are concerned about space constraints.
We made a trip down to their showroom at Grantral Mall at Taiseng, and after some consideration and a bit of "test driving" in the showroom (yes, we got in those tubs! HERA actually encouraged us to sit in the bathtubs to try them out), we settled on Model 1018, and in 1600mm.
Compared to the rest, 1018 was more rounded. Although we preferred the design, you'll have to take into account that its exterior might be slightly harder to clean.
