Our final lighting layout ✨
After many discussions, we decided to go with this setup. Our ID did mention it might feel a little dim since we didn’t add many light points and relied more on LED strips and spotlights—but we were okay with that. We don’t WFH much, and when we’re home, we just want to wind down and chill.
Most areas get good natural light during the day anyway. But, after moving in, we did notice the kitchen can feel slightly darker on some days, but our Fatboy Tjoep lamp at the island really helps brighten things up. Plus, we added tritone/adjustable LED strips at the curtain pelmets so we can turn up the brightness when needed 🤍
Our initial lighting plan đź’ˇ
This was what we started out with. Looking back, there were a lot more light points across the house—almost every corner had one. It definitely would’ve been very bright, but also a little too much for the kind of home vibe we were going for.
More light points also meant higher costs and a space that felt less cosy and more “always-on”. After thinking about how we actually live day to day, we realised we didn’t need everything to be fully lit all the time.
That’s when we decided to simplify the layout, reduce the number of light points, and focus more on ambient lighting instead. Less harsh lighting, lower cost, and a much calmer feel overall ✨
Lighting that sets the mood ✨
This corner really sums up why we went softer with our lighting. Warm under-cabinet lights, a gentle glow from the shelves, and our island pendant doing just enough without being harsh.
Lighting that sets the mood ✨
It’s not the brightest, but it feels calm, cosy, and very us. Perfect for slow mornings, quiet dinners, and winding down after a long day.
