Every renovation is a lesson of compromise 😅
Here are a few things that didn’t survive the approval stage.
I do see his point — I’d hate for us to end up squabbling over cleaning and maintenance later on. Between the two of us, he’s definitely the practical one.
They’re nice details and “nice-to-haves,” but not deal-breakers. We’ll be living here together, so it’s more important that the house works for both of us than for me to win every design battle.
It’s a lesson we’re learning through this journey, that compromise really is part of creating a home.
It’s still early days, so we’ll see how things go.
#1 - Wall Panels and Wainscoting
Reason: Dust Trap
#1 - Anything Rattan
Reason: Dust Trap 😭😭
Side note !! Jennings now has a fab new range of rattan like laminate!
#3 - Blinds and Carpets
Reason: Dust trap + Hard to Clean
(Still negotiating haha maybe we get 1 carpet)
#3- Coloured Tile + Small Tiles
Reason: Prefers neutral colours. Worried it’s just just a trend we’ll get sick of + grout = mould.
#5- Open Shelf
Reason: Hard to maintain, Grease, Dust
Ok this one I can’t fight ahaha
#6 - Curved structures
Reason: Cost and worried we won’t like it in the future
