Goodbye, rust! 👋🛠️
If you've been following along since the very beginning, you probably remember that incredibly rusted entrance picture from my first post. It was a massive eyesore, but I’m happy to report that it is officially a thing of the past!
Living in a space for 5 years means checking off those long-overdue upgrades, and resetting this entrance was at the top of the list.
Out with the rust, in with the glass! 💎👋
Upgraded the main entrance to a see-through glass panel door. No more rust from washing down the corridor, just a super clean vibe (and a prayer that no one tests its shatter resistance with a rock 💀).
Also just installed the new Aqara U400 smart lock! More on that in the next post. 🔌✨
Optimizing the dining layout for hosting. 📐🪵
We recently parted ways with the long bench on the left. While minimal, it proved impractical when hosting—getting up from the middle of a four-person squeeze was always a challenge.
The solution?
Three modular benches that align seamlessly to mimic a single unit, but offer individual flexibility (and make for perfect mahjong seating).
This upgrade also allowed us to streamline the space and remove the miscellaneous IKEA seating that had been lingering in the background.
More on my accidental chair collection coming up next.
I’ve officially repainted the entire house, installed these new shelves, and finally pulled that new wiring point to give my bedroom display the proper lighting it deserves.
It’s amazing what a fresh coat of paint and some intentional lighting can do to completely reset a space! 💡🛋️
The sneaker dilemma: Officially a work in progress! 👟📦
This corner right here is still a major question mark. I’m trying to figure out the best way to store both my and my tenant’s sneaker collections without making the entryway look like a total mess.
Right now, I’m leaning toward the classic IKEA PS cabinet or maybe some stackable storage crates to give it a cool, retail-store aesthetic. 🏬✨

Experimenting with modular storage. 📐🪵
These are the crates from Hay and Aykasa, giving the entryway a more utilitarian, curated feel. I’d love to hear your thoughts or any alternative layout suggestions you might have.
On a side note, the living room evolution continues—a new sofa is officially in the works to anchor the space. 🪐🛋️
Redefining the corner: From side nook to multi-functional studio. 📐🖤
The left zone anchors my primary workspace—though positioning it by the window means I'll need to look into some subtle security solutions.
The right zone is dedicated entirely to production, housing the 3D printer and serving as a raw workbench for painting and assembly. 🪵🎨
As a bonus, the new configuration naturally carves out a familiar ledge for our neighbor to resume her food drop-offs. Seamless functionality meets community spirit. 🕊️🍲
