Welcome back! We will be introducing our dining area to you this week. We have always envisioned an open kitchen concept with our dining area right next to the kitchen, and we are glad that our vision is able to come alive. Our dining table is in a dark wood tone, to be consistent with the wood tones around the home. It also matches the colour of our skirting.

Our dining table set is from Taobao, we opted for 2 chairs and a bench. We wanted a good-sized table that is able to fit 6 people in a small area. We opted for a bench as it is able to sit more people in the same row when we are hosting and our guests are able to sit comfortably leaning against the wall.

Our dining table measures 1.6m across, and the wall behind measures 1.8m. We wanted some allowance and not to have the dining table protrude out, obstructing the entryway to the bedrooms. We hunted for a table that has an arch on one end so that this side can seat 2 more people. In addition, a rounded edge creates a softer look, and more practically, it does not obstruct the entryway to the bedrooms. We also wanted the other side to be a straight end so it can be flushed to the peninsula without any gaps or empty space.

We installed switches near the dining area and peninsula so that we are able to utilise this space to operate more appliances, for steamboat purposes, or to charge our devices.

We keep the dining table clutter-free, but to liven the space up a little, we added a faux plant/ flower.

We decided to situate our dining area right next to the peninsula because of the convenience of serving food easily as well.

Our dining table also doubles up as our working space sometimes when we need a change of environment while working from home.
