The Heart of Our Home: Where Family Time Happens
4867
This is our living room – a bright and airy space that we’ve designed to be both functional and inviting. With plenty of natural light streaming in, we chose day curtains to softly dim the sunlight to our preference while maintaining a warm and open feel. To keep the room comfortable, we’ve placed a ceiling fan in the center of the usable space, complemented by an air-conditioner for those hotter days. And yes, the giraffe in the corner was a gift for our kids – but it surprisingly blends in perfectly with the overall aesthetic! 🦒✨ We brought over our trusty Xiaomi 75" TV from our previous home – it does the job perfectly and is one of the most budget-friendly options out there. Honestly, with electronics these days, you never know when they might fail… or when the kids might accidentally “test” their durability! 😅 Instead of a coffee table, we opted for a small side table by the sofa – perfect for holding remotes, drinks, or snacks. This choice keeps the center space open, giving the kids more room to play and sit around comfortably in the living area. Simple, functional, and family-friendly – just the way we like it. Our living room is located just after the balcony as you enter the house and sits next to the "study" room as shown in the floor plan. Originally, the study room’s entrance was positioned right behind where our TV is now. We decided to shift the entrance to the far right and conceal it with a hidden door featuring fluted panels. This change allowed us to centralize the TV console in the living space and create better separation from the kitchen area, highlighted by the charming green French doors on the right. This 9ft push-back sofa is hands down my favorite part of our home. It’s big enough for all of us to cuddle up and get comfortable – perfect for lazy evenings and family movie nights. 🍿🎬 The push-back feature gives everyone plenty of room to stretch out and relax, making it the ultimate spot for winding down together. Simple joys like this are what truly make a house feel like home. ❤️ This picture shows our sofa in both positions – standard and pushed back. Each seat can be adjusted individually, which makes it super versatile and perfect for everyone to find their own comfort spot. One thing to note though: when the sofa is placed against a wall and the seats are pushed forward, it can look a little awkward. But given the comfort it offers, it’s a trade-off we’re happy to live with! Practical, cozy, and perfect for family lounging. ✨
