In today’s post, we share some items bought from Taobao during our renovation that we thought we would use or install… but didn’t in the end.
It’s not that these items aren’t good or useful — they just didn’t fit our needs at this stage of our home life. Maybe in the future, when our needs change, we’ll install them. For now, we’re reselling them to reduce clutter at 🏠
#1. Side racks beside common toilet vanity
Bought during reno to store toiletries or display small decor items. Turns out we don’t use the common toilet for brushing teeth, and the sink area is already spacious enough. We skipped installing it to reduce cleaning and visual clutter. Might consider it again if our family size increases.
#2. Shelf above toilet bowl (master bathroom)
We loved the idea of placing small plants or decor above the toilet. But the wood tone didn’t match our mirror, and the space looked neater without it. So.. we decided not to install it.
#3. Small adhesive hooks
Planned to use them behind doors to hang worn clothes for re-wearing. But we prefer not to stick things on walls, and we already have a laundry rack in the common room. So these were never installed.
#4. Retractable drying rack
This looked super practical for drying shoes, soft toys, etc while saving space. In reality, our current drying rack is more than enough for our needs, so this stayed unused and uninstalled.
Pro tip at the end of the day: There’s no need to rush into buying everything for your home. Live in the space first, then decide what you actually need.
#5. Broom / Mop holders
We originally planned to install this inside the kitchen utility cupboard to make use of an awkward empty space, mainly for storing brooms.
However, we ended up placing a ladder there, so there was no longer enough space. Also, aside from one broom and dustpan, we didn’t really have much else to hang. As for the mop, we store it in the toilet using suction hangers instead, which feels more flexible for us.
