When you have an aging house and the switches fail you, do you know what to do? Our switches started making sizzling noise and gave off a burning smell one day! Scare die me! 
Yup. The fan in the bedroom cannot be switched on anymore. 
Tip from Mr Google is to test out the main circuit to find the main power point for the switch and switch it off till you get the electrician to fix it! Better save than sorry. I wouldn't want to start a fire at home. Something for you to take note of if you are living in an older house too!
