Stirling Road: A Calm, Thoughtful 3-Room Resale 1970

This home at Stirling Road is a quiet blend of old and new—a 1970s 3-room resale flat reimagined for modern living, while still honouring some of its original character. 
When we first met the homeowner, they shared their vision: a home that feels calm and organised, with clean lines, thoughtful details, and a touch of warmth. Nothing overly done. Nothing cold. Just a space that feels good to come home to, and even better to grow into. 
The original layout felt a little boxed in, so we opened up the kitchen to connect it naturally with the living area. Now, there’s more light, better airflow, and a natural sense of flow throughout the space. The new kitchen island sits at the centre of it all—a practical spot for prepping meals, having coffee, or catching up after work. 
While most of the flat got a fresh update, we chose to retain parts of its retro structure—the solid bones, the proportions, the quiet charm of its original layout. Paired with full-height cabinetry, clean finishes, and concealed handles, the result is a home that feels both grounded and current. 
Storage was planned carefully throughout. In the entryway, a slim shoe cabinet doubles as a soft divide between the corridor and living area. The living room features a custom TV console that keeps wires and daily clutter tucked away, while warm wood tones and soft lighting create a relaxed, welcoming vibe. 
The bedroom was kept intentionally simple. We went with full-height wardrobes and a gentle neutral palette to keep the space feeling airy and calm. Layered textures and soft lighting add warmth without visual clutter—perfect for winding down at the end of the day. 
This home isn’t showy or loud. It’s honest, practical, and quietly beautiful—a space where modern touches meet timeless character, and everyday routines feel just a little smoother.
