  • Smart Switches That Changed How We Use Our Home
Hi everyone! Just taking a moment to share about a little home upgrade we did about 6 months ago. When we first renovated our home, we didn’t invest in smart home features as we honestly didn’t think we needed it at that point. But after settling in, we started to wonder… would installing smart switches have made a difference?

Turns out, it really did! We spoke to BeSmarterHome about 𝓼𝔀𝓲𝓽𝓬𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 our traditional switches. It did felt uncertain since we've moved in and we also weren’t sure if our home would be compatible for the switch. But the team was super patient and walked us through all our questions (listed below!), reassuring us that most things could be worked around with the right setup.

Here’s how things have changed since:

    1. Walkway Light This light was barely used because we didn't install a two-way switch near the bedroom. Walking back and forth to switch it off just wasn’t practical. Now, we’ve simply set a timer to turn it off—and that’s it. Problem solved.

    2. Dining Area Lights Our dining lights have three modes—white light, warm light, and warm white. To get to warm light, we'd have to toggle the switch 3 times whenever we dine at the table. With the smart switch, we can now preset our preferred mode, so a single tap takes us straight to warm lighting.

    3. TV Setup This is the one we use the most and I always found it annoying that we need to use separate remotes to turn on the TV and soundbar, just to start binging my drama. Now, with a single switch, the TV, soundbar, fan, and even the cove lights turn on all at once!

    4. Entryway Lights Lastly and ironically, this was the very first visual you saw entering this post! By adding a motion sensor, the entryway lights to turn on automatically as we arrive—no more fumbling in the dark or trying to find the switch with arms full of groceries!
