Hello everyone 👋🏼
Back here with a post to share about our paint samples journey —
Right from the start, we knew we would definitely need to shortlist and swatch the colours in our home as we are pretty indecisive… or as I would like to term it, selective-decisive; which means we are decisive on things we know and have enough clarity on, but indecisive when not much information is presented, then we will start hunting and researching 🙂↕️
Thus, after trawling through many Communa & Instagram posts and stories, we decided on 10! Trust me, it was quite a big achievement considering our selective-decisiveness (at this point I’m just reeling in the coining of this term hahaha)
As I benefitted greatly from the community here, here’s sharing this journey with more in this community too 🤎
Here are some additional things we brought, apart from the paint samples and the brushes that came with:
• Masking Tape
• Pencils
• Newspapers
• Old plastic bag
• Plastic sheet (optional)
Step 1. Choose a wall with natural light shining directly onto it, and another without - this helps you to see the colours under different lighting, allowing you to make a more informed choice.
Step 2. Decide on the number of paint samples you want to put up and demarcate boxes using the masking tape. It can be as big or as small as you want it, generally based on how much of the painted sample you need in order to visualise the colour in that space.
Step 3. *MOST IMPORTANT* (to us)
Use a pencil and write the name of the paint sample onto the paint brush! The colours we chose were actually very similar to one another, and we were afraid we may mix up the brushes and end up mixing the colours - we personally love this tip!
Step 4. Write the name of the paint sample on the masking tape so you know which paint sample has been painted in which box.
Step 5. Lay the newspapers (or plastic sheet) and start painting! 🎨
Tip from our ID and other posts:
• Paint at least 2 coats
• Come back after 1-2 days for the final colour after it settles
Here are the names of the paint samples we bought and chose for the living room - wall with natural light version.
And here’re the ones for our master bedroom - wall with natural light version too.
Can you guess which ones did we choose for our living & master bedroom? 🙈
PS: Comment ‘Paint’ and I’ll share the link to the paint samples we bought!
