💫 There’s something special about starting the day with a cup of coffee, even more so when your home is designed to support those little rituals. That’s why we turned our entryway into a calming, practical coffee and storage nook. 🥰☕️ Our layout doesn’t have a traditional entryway, it’s more like the first zone you walk into, there is a DB box right between the kitchen and dining area. Hence, we made the whole original space concealed with the laminate as well as other areas to better match our overall theme. This is a top-down view of the space. The previous setup had the dining table pushed against the wall where our coffee corner is now. But it felt too close to the common bathroom, and honestly, having a meal next to the toilet just didn’t sit well with us. 🫣 As we incorporated more curves into most of the corners throughout the home, we also asked our ID to add an arched doorway right beside the coffee corner to keep the flow consistent. Here are some measurements for your reference! This space is really the first area you step into, so we wanted it to feel both functional and inviting. We ended up with a half-and-half layout — open display above, hidden storage below, which really sets the tone as soon as you walk through the door. Conveniently, it also connects the kitchen and dining space, which made it the perfect spot to design a dry kitchen setup that doubles as a coffee corner and concealed storage zone. ✨ A little takeaway from our reno journey: Our ID originally designed two full-length shelves placed symmetrically from left to right. But the layout felt a bit too “serious” and conventional to us. On a whim, we asked him to try offsetting the placement — one shelf leaning left, the other right — and to our surprise, the result turned out so much better than expected! Honestly, at some point it felt like we were the ones playing the role of ID 😆😆 So, if you're in the design stage and feel strongly about something, whether you love it or not, don’t hesitate to speak up to your ID/contractor. After all, you’re the one who’ll be living in the space long after the drawings are finalized.
