Buying a storage bed was one of the best decisions we made for our bedroom - it's cleared up a lot of space in our wardrobe because of all the things we've been able to keep under it.
So if you're curious about what you can actually fit in a storage bed, here's our big reveal!
Tadaaa - here is the huge collection of things we've managed to stuff under the bed. This includes:
1. A foldable mattress for guests
2. An extra soft pillow and blanket for guests
3. All our travel-related items - winter clothes, hiking stuff, backpacks, extra duffel bags, neck pillows, etc.
4. A foldable mahjong table (this folds in half with the legs tucked away inside!)
5. A cabin sized luggage and two 26" check in luggages!
For clothes storage, we use these huge waterproof zippered bags from Taobao that are also really inexpensive (less than $2 for one!).
We used these over compression bags so that we can dump in all the winter clothes/accessories together in the same bag without having to constantly seal/unseal the bags. We also measured the height of the bags to make sure they match the height of the storage compartment!
We do keep 'puffy' items like down jackets in their own vacuum packs inside these bags to minimize space.
The material for these bags are pretty thin (hence the low price LOL) but they've held out pretty well for the last two years - so we're also quite impressed LOL.
Smaller travel items (e.g. raincoats, amenities kits, small towels, etc) are just kept in these small storage boxes (and they spill out because there's no lid HAHA) to prevent them from falling out everywhere - this further optimises space and makes it really easy to pack for trips!
We resort to compression bags only for these super puffy items - pillows and blankets. Got these bags from Daiso!
And... that's all the things we've managed to stuff under our bed. We've always associated storage beds with just storing clothes and random stuff so we were quite impressed when we realised you can hide entire suitcases and mahjong tables under the bed.
So if you're lacking on space (or you just have a lot of stuff oops) then this might be the solution for you!
(and also buy a foldable mahjong table, it's much easier to store away hehe)
