  • Sharing my house and ID hunting journey
Hi there. It's nice to be onboard and sharing this adulting journey with all of you. So, this is the house I bought after viewing 8 resale 3rm houses in the west. These 8 houses were all >30years and most of them were asking for more than $400k. This was the only one asking for less than $400k - low floor, 39 years old and in super bad condition. It gave me legit reason to do a complete revamp and the result is super cute!!!

Here's the state of the house. The walls are covered with white patches caused by humidity. Fixtures like the window locks, rubbish chute cover, room doors, main door were spoilt. Other things like kitchen sink, basin tap, shower set were also dead. The vinyl flooring was peeling, and there's nothing underneath (thank god, I dont have to spend to hack the floor tiles) but that explains the uneven flooring when I went for viewing.

I met 6 IDs in total. Some lectured me for not doing homework (they were refering to moodboard, sample photos), while some did the homework for me. In my defense, I did gave them what I want in particular and I was expecting the ID to fill up the blanks. After all, I thought I was leaving some room for their creativity. They are supposed to be interior DESIGNERS, right? Out of the 6 IDs, I love the ID I hired. She did the so-called homework for me, had ALL my likes and dislikes noted, and she somewhat reads my mind. I was sold the moment I saw the draft design she did for my kitchen.

Initially, like everyone else, I thought having something timeless would be nice but after going the hunt for ID and looking through their portfolio, I changed my mind. I wanted something special, not another portfolio. So, I requested pastel, colourful, and kidult. It is a theme that very uncommon. And I also wanted loose furnitures, instead of built-in carpentry. I like the freedom to move things around. And also because I believe my lifestyle will change in a new environment. To have some time and observe myself before I make the commitment to have built-in, I believe makes more sense. Lastly, budget doesn't allow. 😅 Lucky my ID doesn't mind me not having much carpentry.
