SG60 Edition: Tan Boon Liat and Other Local Furniture Pieces
153
Hunting for furniture was one of the most exciting parts of building our house. For this SG60 special edition post, we'd like to share the locally-sourced furniture pieces in our home. Mainly we sourced from shops in Tan Boon Liat, such as Commune, Soul & Tables, and Grey & Sanders - but we also purchased from other local shops. Sad to see the shops there are closing nowadays. =( P.S. If you are hunting from local shops, DO IT NOW! Best promotion is from National Day to New Year time. xoxo, @hujihuis 1. Commune's Linate Sofa 2.5 Seater We tried a lot of sofas before deciding on this one. It's the most comfortable sofa for us in non-electric/recliner type. Love the lumbar support. 2. Commune's Zani Stool and Table Set This was probably the last big item we purchased. Considering the small space we have for a coffee table, and we prefer our space to feel spacious, we found the perfect match in this versatile stool and table set - we can use as an ottoman for watching TV, and keep it compact when not in use. :) 3. Soul & Tables' Cheetah Dining Table The dining table has roughness to it and not all smooth, the edgy legs give our space more dimension and not flat. It gives us a touch of industrial feel that we wanted. No regrets. 4. Grey & Sanders' Ralph Bench - American Black Walnut (150cm) For this bench, we simply fell in love with the wood slab, the curves, the wood pattern, it's beautiful. Isn't the wood beautiful? ;] 5. HipVan's Noelle TV Console 1.8m We look through a lot of shops in Tan Boon Liat and other furniture shops in Singapore, and finally decided to get this Noelle TV Console from HipVan. We liked the mid century modern feel it brings, with the see through tinted glass -a component we feel lacking in the house-, and stainless steel legs (that vacuum robot can still pass through). 6. WeMakeSG's Custom Noren When our ID suggested to open up the kitchen, we knew we needed a noren to hide the yard from guests' sights and to decorate the space at the same time. We soon realised that ready-made norens do not fit the width we need. Luckily we found solution in WeMakeSG's custom noren. And we incorporated her love for Spirited Away - hence the onsen design. =) 7. The Table Guy's The Atlas Shelf We have been eyeing for The Atlas Shelf (adjustable) for a while before pulling the trigger when the had a big promotion. Before we end this post, let's hope that a furniture centre building like Tan Boon Liat could still exist in Singapore.
