Service Yard: seamless extension of the kitchen

Welcome to our service yard! Resale flat like ours doesn't have a distinction between the kitchen and the service yard. With the use of an arch and different floorings, we created a segregation between the 2 spaces.
When it comes to our service yard, we prioritise functionality over aesthetic. Hence, the use of tiles instead of vinyl as it is resilient and low maintenance. The grey terrazzo design is a soft and subtle way to add colour and texture to the space.
Since this area is at the back of the kitchen and tucked behind the arch, we were not extremely particular about the concealing the heater here.
We have cleaning items such as mops, vacuum, etc kept relatively open for utility purposes.
The accessories from IKEA were used to gain some storage space. The wall shelf allows for storage of detergent and display of knick-knacks.
On the other side of the service yard, we have our dry pantry. It offers storage for our cooking appliances and commonly-used cookware. One thing to note is that the open pantry storage keeps items visible and accessible, but it requires regular organisation and maintenance.
One of the best investment is the retractable laundry rack - Steigen. It’s pretty life-changing! We love the functionality, esp the signature Solar Drying technique that dries laundry 8 times faster than a natural outdoor breeze. We opted for white which fits into our neutral themed service yard. By having the essential items in the service yard, it adds a convenience to our daily activities.
