Lessons from 5 years of HDB living. 📐🪵
We don't have the resources to renovate the entire house again, but ever since starting this journey on Commune, I’ve been tracking the small things that need to evolve. This photo is a look at the real, lived-in layout we deal with daily.
Knowing what I know now, here is the room-by-room breakdown of what I would do differently. 📝👇
End of an era: After 5 years, the side nook is officially gone! 🛠️👋
It was a bitter-sweet decision, but let’s be real—always pushing a laptop cart around and constantly plugging and unplugging my monitor was getting exhausting.
It’s finally time to stop compromising and set up a proper, permanent workspace. I’m ready to upgrade this corner, boost the productivity vibes, and build a dedicated desk setup that actually works for me. 🖥️⚡️
Stay tuned to see the transformation!
The ultimate low-budget design hack: Tape testing! 📐📼
Yup, that is a lot of masking tape on the floor. Before committing to any new furniture, I like to map out the exact dimensions right on the ground. It lets me physically walk around the space, test the traffic flow, and make absolutely sure a piece is in the right spot before buying it. 🚶♂️🚶♀️
Trust me, your floor plan will thank you! Do you guys use this trick too? 👇
The side nook is officially history! 🛠️💥
Right now, the wall has been completely smoothed down and repainted by a handyman. The only problem? My neighbor stopped by and looked highly confused about where she’s supposed to drop off her home-cooked food now that the designated trade zone is gone! 🍲😂
The blank canvas is ready. Stay tuned for the next post to see what’s going into this corner—and spoiler alert: there is zero custom-built furniture this time round. 🤫🖥️
had to do some rewiring around the house recently. As my Hot Toys collection keeps growing, I quickly realized that a display like this deserves proper lighting. No more dark corners—I needed dedicated electrical points to finally let these figures shine! 💡✨
Any fellow collectors out there know the struggle of planning your space around your hobbies? 👇
