Sharing some of our renovation hits and regrets now that we’ve lived in the space for a while — the little details that made a difference, and the things we wish we had done differently.
✅ Reno Hits
Hit #1 — Rounded Cabinet Corner
One of our favourite design choices. The rounded corner gives the built-in a softer, more elegant finish while being child-safe. No sharp edges, no knocking into corners — looks good and functional at the same time.
Hit #2 — Plenty of Storage
We maximised vertical space with full-height cabinets, giving us plenty of hidden storage to keep the living room neat and clutter-free.
Hit #3 — AA Track for Cabinets
Using an AA track system for the cabinet makes it easy to adjust shelf height anytime — perfect for fitting different items or future changes.
Hit #4 — Lift-Up Cabinet Door for Household Shelter Vent
We added a lift-up cabinet door to cover the household shelter vent. It lets us open it easily for ventilation when needed and close it for a completely seamless built-in look when not in use. Practical and aesthetic at the same time.
Hit #5 — Hidden Door Concealing the Bomb Shelter
The bomb shelter door is fully hidden within the built-in cabinet design. It blends perfectly into the wall, giving the living room a clean, continuous look without the visual bulk of a metal shelter door.
❌ Reno Regrets
Regret #1 — No Power Plug at the Open Niche
We skipped adding a power point inside the niche… which means no option to place a lamp, diffuser, or lighted decor. Looks clean, but lost a bit of practicality here — something we definitely would add next time.
Regret #2 — Not Building a Custom TV Console to Conceal Cables
We bought a loose TV console instead of building one in, and now the cables are harder to hide. A custom built-in would’ve made the whole setup cleaner and more seamless.
Little hits that we love, little regrets that we learned from — but still, a space we truly enjoy every day ❤️🏡
