In this post, we'll share the process of our kitchen— from conceptualising to 3D renders and to reality!~ All 3D photos credits to our ID. 🫡 The Mrs (being the fickle minded person that she is), had a hard time deciding on even smallest details! We'll show you what we mean by that, let's play spot the difference! 👀

After much contemplation, this is our final look! 🥰 ✔️ Concealed dish rack- To reduce visual clutter ✔️ Open shelves compartment x2 instead of x3- To accommodate taller containers (kudos to ID for thinking about this!) ✔️ White laminate for the top- So the whole house doesn’t look too brown ✔️ Wood highlights- after pondering over this for days, the Mrs finally thinks she likes it this way, the Mr already said this was nice right from the start! 😂 The amount of time taken just for small details like these...... 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏻‍♀️ (don't get us started on laminate colours, paint colours, etc, they all look the same but also so different even if they're of the same colour group! the Mrs took weekssss to decide even after looking at samples and ID's input---, but she knew she had to make the decision FAST in order to get the renovation going so that we can move in ASAP!) One regret: Our countertop measures 87cm in height, is a tad too low for the Mr (184cm), so its a bummer especially when he does the dishes.... 😭 Anyway, the Mrs is quite territorial in the kitchen, so she is usually the one in charge here (OCD lol). 😂 Something for you guys to consider because this cannot be changed in the long run unless you redo everything.....

Initial render 1.0: Fixed glass doors on the peninsula & sliding glass doors to separate kitchen & corridor. Did you know? A kitchen island is a standalone unit not attached to any other part of the kitchen worktops or cabinetry, while a peninsula is attached to a wall or kitchen unit and has three exposed sides! 💡 (something that we learnt during our reno and corrected by our ID 🤭)

Initial render 2.0: Glass sliding doors on peninsula.

Render 3.0: No sliding doors! Eventually decided on an open concept kitchen so that our place doesn’t look too confined (we were #teamclosedkitchen all the way until we saw our space IRL). Extra doors might make the area more confined and "bulky". ID also thinks it is better with an open kitchen! Furthermore, no need to spend extra time cleaning the glass too, so that's a win! 😁 Now the next question is... what colour for our kitchen cabinetry? 🤔 Both in white? Hmm, the Mrs liked it at first but the Mr said it looks like a hospital!

Both kitchen carpentry laminates in same shade? Hmm, Mrs said the entire home will be too brown, Mr said its alright...

Top in white, bottom in wood? Hmm..

Reality! We choose white x light wood for a cosy ambience, and opted for a rectangular table instead of a round one to accommodate 2 more seats.

Final look! 🥰 Didn’t want a backsplash with obvious prints as there might be too much going on. Going for the minimalistic look. Overall, we like how the whites complement the light wooden colour to create a warm, comfortable environment. Till the next post! 🫶
