When we finally completed our home renovation, we were beyond excited to move in and enjoy our new space. But like many homeowners, we soon realized that a freshly renovated home comes with something less visible but very real—formaldehyde and other VOCs (volatile organic compounds).
These pollutants are commonly released from new carpentry, paint, flooring, and even furniture. What makes formaldehyde tricky is that it doesn’t just “go away” quickly—it can continue to be released slowly over months or even years. Breathing it in daily can cause irritation and long-term health effects, so it was important for me to address it right from the start.
To solve this, we started using the Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde and Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde, which is specially designed to not just filter but actually destroy formaldehyde molecules on a molecular level. Most air purifiers can only trap pollutants, but Dyson’s technology continuously breaks them down so they don’t build back up in the home.
On top of that, it has:
✔️ HEPA filtration to capture dust, pollen, and microscopic allergens.
✔️ Activated carbon filters to absorb gases and odors (super useful after renovation!).
✔️ A real-time air quality monitor that shows me exactly what’s in the air, both on the screen and the Dyson app.
Other than these functions, they also double up as standing fans so that we can stay cool while enjoying fresh, quality air! We also no longer sneeze as often or have nose irritations as we did in the past ✨💨
