Our home is mostly calm and neutral, filled with warm wood, soft fabrics, and curves that are easy on the eyes. But we’ve learned that a little color can bring a spark of joy to all that simplicity.
Every corner has its own quiet pop of personality, a cheerful yellow here, a splash of coral there. Small moments that make the space feel alive. It’s a reminder that color doesn’t have to shout to make an impact. Sometimes, it just needs to smile.
First up, we have these yellow gingham pillows at the heart of our living room. They brighten up the "safe" tones and instantly make the space feel cheerful and lived in.
The yellow HomePod (Apple's smart speaker) on its snail-shaped holder brings a playful touch to our entryway and stands out beautifully against the warm shoe cabinet wood. It’s a simple detail that makes the whole room feel a little more alive.
A muted dining space with a patterned food cover that adds a cozy farmhouse feel. The delicate details and colors bring warmth and character to the table, and it’s so charming that we never feel the need to put it away!
Once again in an understated kitchen, a few thoughtful pops of color make all the difference. The soft gray, limewash-style backsplash sets a calm backdrop for the mix of colorful chopping boards and blush utensils. They bring a bit of visual interest and energy to the space.
Our bathroom is a closed space, so we wanted to have a little more fun with it. The mink subway wall tiles and patterned floor tiles set it apart from the rest of the house. While most of our home feels light and neutral, this space is a little more colorful while still keeping things soft and refined.
Closed-off areas like bathrooms or other rooms can have their own personality, and sometimes that contrast makes the whole home feel more interesting!
Little moments of color, like this patterned hand towel, bring playfulness into everyday routines. It’s the perfect accent against the mink herringbone subway tiles.
Even a workspace deserves a splash of personality. The bright yellow storage drawers balance the minimalist setup and make workdays just a little more joyful.
Our bedroom stays calm and grounded with soft tones, but the coral HomePod (a twin to the yellow one in the entryway) adds a cheerful burst of color. It’s a small detail that quietly shifts the mood of the room.
As much as we love the calm, cozy base of our home, it's the little pop of color that keep everything feeling fresh and personal.
We choose pieces that add warmth and character without ever overwhelming the space. Most of them are loose furnishings, so we can switch things up or try new tones whenever inspiration hits. It’s an easy, low-commitment way to bring life into a serene space.
Color doesn't have to be bold, it can be flexible and fun, and coexist perfectly in a modern farmhouse themed home ☺︎
