Yes - we're one of those couples who consider going to IKEA a date.
So after countless trips to everyone's favourite Swedish furniture store, here are some low commitment, very useful and pretty affordable items we'd recommend everyone to buy!
First up - our SUNNERSTA HOOKS!
We have the whole SUNNERSTA kitchen rack actually - but big shoutout to the hooks because we've found that they've been super useful for hanging up our cooking utensils. We used to keep the utensils in a container, but we found that this made it hard for them to dry, and water would accumulate at the bottom of the container, causing it to become quite... dirty and gross.
So, yes to these hooks holding up our utensils and allowing them to air dry!
Plus, even if you don't have the SUNNERSTA rack, we've found that these hooks can also be hung from other places - e.g. our window grilles or even the side of our laundry basket to hang laundry bags!
Ok this is a controversial one because the container itself costs $8.90 but we've also succumbed to getting various lids for it... so the lid + container combo would actually be more than $10.
BUT WE REALLY LIKE THIS CONTAINER - it's stainless steel, dishwasher friendly and withstands heat up to 200 degs.
And here's how we use it to maximise convenience - we put a bunch of chopped veggies in and leave it in the fridge, and any time we want to eat those vegetables, we simply remove the lid and throw the whole thing into our steamer. Then we serve the whole container of steamed veggies at the dinner table without replating them - think about the number of plates and bowls we've saved from doing this :))))
(buy a few more containers and you can put in fish... meat... tofu... anything you want to steam)
RINNIG TEA TOWELS are the ONLY tea towels we have in our house - we keep buying them in multiple designs and colours LOL.
They are not expensive and some of the designs (looking at the one with lemon prints!!) are TOO CUTE. Duck smiles to herself secretly when she uses the lemon printed tea towel hehe.
They're just the right size for cleaning up random spills and kitchen things + super hardy - the first set we got months ago is still in great condition even though they've been through the washing machine multiple times.
We don't have any special features of the Arfehaj chopsticks to share but AREN'T THEY SO BEAUTIFUL! We love the translucent acrylic ends + how they're all differently coloured so we can't mix up each other's chopsticks.
Plus each set comes with two sets of baby chopsticks - we don't have any babies to use them, but they're great for kiapping snacks :)
and lastly, IKEA food is so much more than the restaurant - we've bought food from the little supermarket area so many times and THIS IS OUR HOLY GRAIL.
It's like fried shallots (Chinese style) but without the oil~~ A dream come true if you're the kind who loves fried shallots on top of your noodles or dishes, but don't really like the oil that comes with the jars from the supermarket.
We always have this in our fridge! Sometimes more than 1 tub because we stockpile :)
