Our TV wall is the true focal point of our home — but designing it nearly drove me crazy! 🤯
The wall itself is only 1900mm, and with the ceiling beam (160mm) + space needed for day & night curtains (150mm), my TV console could only be 1590mm long. Super tight!
I also have a bit of OCD — I don’t like clutter on top of the console. But we had to fit in PS5, Wi-Fi router, TV box, and Samsung TV connect box. The PS5 also generates lots of heat while gaming, so ventilation was another challenge.
Other dilemmas:
💭Should we add a TV feature wall? Partition or carpentry (and the budget)?
💭How do we manage all the wires neatly?
💭How to balance design vs practicality?
After much trial and error, here’s the solution I landed on:
✨ Rounded corners → for safety, aesthetics, and no sharp edges facing the main door.
✨ Fluted panels at the sides → stylish and functional ventilation for PS5 + router.
✨ Exposed sockets inside the cabinet → more budget-friendly than concealed ones, plus easy access.
✨ Wire management → partition wall was reinforced with wood for TV support, and we added a computer hole to run cables directly into the console.
✨ Top opening slot → for Sonos cables and a handy spot to charge our iPhones (lazy evenings in the living room 😂).
✨ Three cabinet doors → designed so that even the “independent” compartment still shares the same internal wiring.
The only downside? Dust. This console design collects it easily, but I’ve accepted that nothing can be 100% perfect. At least it’s clean, functional, and very us. 🤍
