Here is our self-designed kitchen! Inspired by the stunning kitchens created by @nordiskakok, we have chosen dark oak and travertine as the focal points of our kitchen design, complemented by crisp white walls and elegant curves. We designed the kitchen to accommodate our current and future storage needs and decided that open shelves were sufficient. It visually expands the space and allows us to style our kitchen with knicks-knacks. 
The countertop and backsplash are crafted from cream travertine with a high-honed finish. Although this limestone requires careful maintenance due to its sensitivity to acidic and pigmented substances and its susceptibility to scratches, its unique texture and natural veining offer a distinctive, authentic look that sintered stone couldn’t replicate. This feature has become our favourite part of the kitchen:) 
We opted for a hybrid induction hob over a gas stove for its sleek appearance and ease of cleaning. Our counters are also deeper, which, though more costly, have proven to be worth the investment. 
Our kitchen features two pull-out drawers—one for condiments and seasonings, and the other for baking essentials, optimizing both convenience and organization. 
Without a dishwasher or dish rack, we use drying mats to air-dry dishes and cutlery before storing them in cabinets. This is also where we place our water dispenser. 
Champagne-colored switches were chosen for the backsplash to blend seamlessly with the overall design. Since the storeroom is located next to the kitchen, we made use of its magnetic door to hang items like apron and hand towel, keeping them within reach and organised. 
We also store dried goods such as garlic and onions on the open shelf for easy access. 
Given the kitchen's frequent use for cooking and baking, we prioritized ample countertop space. The L-shaped counter design not only maximises work area but also offers additional storage. We also added a half backsplash to introduce a bit of fun to the design.

The curved section of the L-shaped counters is an actual storage area (not a dead space!) and comes with a push latch mechanism. 
We dislike having appliances cluttering the countertops, so most are stored in cabinets. For frequently used items like our rice cooker and air fryer, we installed pull-out shelves with full-height storage on the opposite side, ensuring they remain organized and accessible.
