#1. Incorporation of curves in carpentry
Although rounded edges cost more, we believe they are worth every cent because they:
1) Soften the look and create a cosy feel
2) Enhance safety
3) Improve functionality, as our curved kitchen cupboard allows easier access to everyday items
#2. Hacking of half wall to create our semi-open kitchen!
This really opens up the space for us and allow natural light flow into what used to be a dark kitchen.
At the same time, the design gives us the flexibility to close it off when doing heavy cooking.
#3. We reduced built in carpentry, and in particular, kept our two common bedrooms open and adaptable.
This allows us to use soft furnishings, making the rooms feel more spacious, and giving us the flexibility to rearrange or repurpose the rooms as our lifestyle and needs evolve over time.
Plus - with less carpentry, we enjoy good cost savings ◡̈
In summary, our key renovation choices reflect our vision for a home that feels open, light-filled, and open ended. — a space designed to adapt and grow with us over time.
