When we were deciding our home style, we were quite agreeable from the beginning we wanted modern style that is timeless through many years ahead. He wanted a darker feel while I wanted a brighter feel so we compromised - living room more greyish/black and dining area more neutral palette that brightens up the space. 
How our Pinterest mood board looked like. I'd say that was the colour theme I preferred but decided to go with a slightly darker tone. 
Initially wanted more wood-y element for a homey vibe. But changed to a more modern vibe instead so went for laminates / microcement instead! 
For the renders, we were trying to go for a lighter colour but ended up deciding with a slightly darker tone for the 'lux' vibe which we are very happy with!
