Introducing our open-concept yet practical kitchen that is one of my favorite part of our home. 
These open shelves in our dry kitchen help to open up and beautify the kitchen space, but also provide practical storage space for some cookbooks and condiments that I regularly use. Tip to keep your counter tops neat, always have a "home" for all your appliances. I always make it a point to keep our rice cooker back into the cabinet after usage, so things don't pile up on the countertop space. 
I've always like the idea of an open concept kitchen, but I didn't want the cooking fumes in our living room area. So... 
We installed a hidden glass door to separate the dry and wet kitchen. We used a pocket door to hide the glass door when it's not in use so the kitchen have a seamless look. 
One of the best decisions we made is to install a power socket in our pantry cabinet. This allows us to use appliances like the blender (or even coffee machine) in the cabinet. Tip, it also helps to reduce the blender noise if we close the cabinet door π of course, the SMEG mixer is there just for storage, and we'd have to move it out when we want to use it since we don't want a mess in our cabinet. 
For someone pretty short, here's my solution to keeping my spices neat but yet reachable. 
I like how versatile our kitchen island is. We use it for storage, as a breakfast space, extra seating when we have guests over, countertop in our dry kitchen when i bake, and also... 
...extra countertop space in our wet kitchen. Yes, our kitchen island has hidden wheels below, which gives us the flexibility to move it around to where we need it π
